DJ sets in 2020 were dominated by Keep Control and Just Be Good To Me. Drop The Pressure, a reimagining of a classic, also gained popularity. Even with clubs largely shut, these tracks found their audience through live-streamed DJ sets, virtual festivals, and home listening sessions.

This was a year of transition. As the world began to emerge from isolation, the echoes of the pandemic continued to shape our collective mood.

One track captured this sentiment: Marea (We’ve Lost Dancing). It led sales and streams, reflecting the emptiness of silent clubs and a year without hugs, gatherings, or dance floors. It wasn’t just music; it was a shared emotional experience that resonated around the world.

Tech House and House remained the dominant genres in 2022, followed closely by Melodic House & Techno. As festivals and clubs reopened, music consumption returned to communal settings, with remixes of older hits gaining popularity on dance floors.

In total, 29 remixes made it into the top sellers, with 5 breaking into the top 15, bringing classic tracks back into the spotlight.

World Hold On claimed the top spot in sales, while Ferrari and Afraid To Feel became viral hits and led streams (1st and 3rd, respectively). Other notable genres included Techno, Dance/Pop, and Nu Disco.

The vibe this year was energetically melodic and soulful. The rise of Bass House, the fifth best-selling genre, brought a fresh dynamic, led by Baby Again by Fred again.. and Skrillex. Platforms like TikTok amplified the genre's reach, turning tracks into global dance floor favorites.

But there was more to 2023. Melodic House & Techno surged, with   Afterlife Records ranking as the second best-selling and second most-streamed label of the year. With standout releases from Anyma, the label paired immersive visuals with music and embraced NFTs, turning digital art into collectible experiences.

As late-night clubbing faced a global decline, Afterlife’s events offered a forward-thinking alternative. By blending music, visuals, and cutting-edge technology, they created a transformative experience that resonated deeply with dancers and electronic music lovers.
